Nuisance

from On the Rocks by Shot of Mercury

lyrics

What is the mindset of the one who lives out
in the middle of where I call nowhere?
No one around many miles to town,
everyone knows their name when they go
there.
They hear through the trees disrupt to their
peace, callin’ in on the phone to the sheriff.
He said, “You can’t make that noise, you
don’t have a choice, we consider your music
a nuisance.”

It’s in our veins
It’s in our souls
We are the music
It lifts us up
And makes us whole
We are the music

A young teenage boy trying to find his own
way starts a band with a few of his buddies.
From garage to garage creating music from
thought, parents tell them their hobby’s
disturbing.
Would we rather them be out on the streets
causing trouble from pure utter boredom?
When did we become unable to see its life
that music has given?

It’s in our veins
It’s in our souls
We are the music
It picks us up
And makes us whole
We are the music
Flows from our minds
And through our hands
We are the music
It makes us sing
It makes us dance
We are the music

Oh well,
what do they know?
They don’t know.
Some just can’t see
how good it can be.

How do we fight this?
No way to defy it.
What would this place be if we stopped
creating?

Oh, we are the music.
Who do they think they are

It’s in our veins
It’s in our souls
We are the music
It picks us up
And makes us whole
We are the music
Flows from our minds
And through our hands
We are the music
It makes us sing
It makes us dance
We are the music

Oh well….
What do they know?
